Technology, AI, New Gen, Global Talent, Information Age: Is the world around us changing or transforming? A case for not taking baby steps but taking giant leaps!
“I like progress, but don’t give me change” – This has been to Mark Twain and to Jon Bon-Jovi. While it sounds like a funny statement at first, I see a deeper meaning that people prefer dramatic transformation vs incremental change.
As I work at the front end this world, here are some of my observations:
“Low Hanging Fruit” or “Go for the Tree”?: Oft heard statement: Let’s get the “Low-Hanging Fruit”. That sounds easy and logical. Easy to pluck and consume. No pain, everyone is happy. Change with Low Hanging Fruit is a short term measure with Low impact.
The real value comes when you “Go For the Tree”. Transform the process, go End-to-End, leverage tech, go global at the same time, stop doing non-value added steps and then look at the new fruit. Yes, Transformation take more time and effort, but it bring real value that organizations appreciate and value.
Break functional silos as your plan the transformation: Connected experiences create the wow factor. Incremental changes in silos have limited impact and in most cases create a negative customer experience. Connected experiences are seamless. For example, internal customers should not have to click on different functional links or multiple chat bots when they have a questions. Connect the experience.
Change is reversible, transformation is future focused: Org cultures and internal ways of working have a natural aversion for change, and put in all the effort to reverse it over time. Transformation, when you break functional silos and Go for the Trees, is a one way journey. Requires a lot more effort, but but is shows new horizons and brings real value.

Very practical approach in today’s fast pace world. We need to have Customer first approach to give connected Experience.
